Homeland Security and Justice (HSJ)

The Homeland Security and Justice team leads GAO’s oversight of efforts to protect and secure the homeland, strengthen the justice system, and respond to disasters and emergencies. HSJ topic areas include: Emergency Management; the management functions of Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and both departments’ components; Border Security and Immigration; Campaign Finance and Elections; U.S. Justice and Law Enforcement efforts, including protection of vulnerable populations; Coast Guard and Maritime Security; Domestic Threats, Intelligence, and Information Sharing; Drug Misuse; Critical Infrastructure Protection; and Transportation Security issues.
