Please note that a lapse in appropriations has caused GAO to shut down its operations. Therefore, GAO will not be able to publish reports or otherwise update this website until GAO resumes operations. In addition, the vast majority of GAO personnel are not permitted to work. Consequently, calls or emails to agency personnel may not be returned until GAO resumes operations. CAO is GAO’s operations hub, continuously improving critical services to help employees get their jobs done. GAO’s human capital, IT, and infrastructure operations report to the CAO.

CAO’s front office also includes several of the agency’s management functions, such as workforce planning, labor relations, business analytics, internal communications, and insider threat prevention. Front office employees directly support GAO’s Executive Committee, work with managing directors to shape their staffing plans, analyze and leverage data to inform agency-wide decision making, and more.
