Cristina T. Chaplain is a Director in GAO’s Contracting and National Security Acquisitions team. She oversees a portfolio of audits on space, missile defense, nuclear programs and related issues, including programs such as the Global Positioning System, the James Webb Telescope, NASA’s Space Launch System, the Missile Defense Agency’s Redesigned Kill Vehicle, cyber protection for weapons programs in development, and space leadership.
Cristina began working at GAO in 1991 as a communications analyst in GAO’s Financial Management and Assurance and Information Technology teams, and began focusing on acquisition issues as an Assistant Director in 2001. She became a director in her current team in 2007. She was a journalist prior coming to GAO.
Cristina received a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Boston University and a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
