We publish a strategic plan every 4 years to guide our work as we help lawmakers oversee federal operations and address the most important issues facing government and society.

These Key Efforts—a component of our 2022-2027 strategic plan—detail the agency's near-term priorities to provide Congress with timely and fact-based analysis of the most important issues facing the nation.

The strategic plan also includes 12 trend papers, which describe factors affecting the future domestic and global context for GAO's work.
