Army's M561 Cargo Truck (Gamma Goat)

Testing of the Army's Gamma Goat vehicle under simulated combat conditions was recommended in December 1975 by GAO in a report to Congress. The House Committee on Appropriations concurred on this opinion, and also recommended that no funds be obligated for product improvement kits for the vehicle until the testing was completed.

According to Army officials, the Army did not plan to conduct an operational test on the vehicle, and rejected some of the previously planned product improvements on existing vehicles.
