Defense Restructuring Costs: Projected and Actual Savings From Martin Marietta Acquisition of GE Aerospace

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO provided information on 17 restructuring projects proposed for payment by the Martin Marietta Corporation, focusing on whether: (1) the Department of Defense's (DOD) certification process for the first 5 of 8 certified projects complies with DOD regulations; (2) projected savings are in line with original estimates; and (3) project restructuring has resulted in lower DOD contract prices.
