Weapons Acquisition: Precision Guided Munitions in Inventory, Production, and Development

Pursuant to a legislative requirement, GAO reviewed the military services' acquisition of precision guided munitions (PGM), focusing on: (1) the planned costs and quantities of PGM; (2) the services' rationale for initiating PGM development programs; (3) available options to attack surface targets with PGM; and (4) the extent of the services' joint development and procurement of PGM.
