Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the costs of establishing two composite wing at two Air Force bases. GAO found that the Air Force: (1) plans to spend $143 million to establish the two composite wings, of which $27 million has been obligated; (2) could increase costs by $109 million depending on how it resolves logistical and construction matters relating to the composite wings; and (3) could incur $34 million in additional costs if it decides to establish a third composite wing.
