Highlights

The Department of Defense's Installation Restoration Program (IRP) was established to: (1) identify and evaluate suspected problems associated with past hazardous waste disposal sites at military bases; and (2) control the migration of hazardous environmental contamination from those sites. Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO made a limited review of the status of IRP work at two military installations, an Air Force base and an Army depot.
