In an evaluation of the implementation of the Public Buildings Cooperative Use Act of 1976, GAO reviewed all aspects of the act, including: (1) the methods used by the General Services Administration (GSA) to identify and calculate costs of acquiring and renovating train stations and other historical buildings; (2) the feasibility of leasing space for commercial activities in federal buildings; and (3) the appropriateness of using historic buildings for federal office space.
