Agency Affected | Recommendation | Status |
---|---|---|
Department of the Air Force | The Secretary of the Air Force should direct the Commander, Air Force Systems Command, to establish acceptable system data integrity criteria, conduct periodic reviews of the system's databases to determine their compliance with acceptable data integrity criteria, and, when necessary, take actions to ensure that system data are accurate and complete. |
The Air Force has established data integrity criteria and plans to annually test the 17 AMIS databases to see if they comply with this criteria. In November 1987, the Air Force verified the analysis done on 5 of the 17 databases and confirmed the GAO findings on those databases.

Department of the Air Force | The Secretary of the Air Force should direct the Commander, Air Force Systems Command, to determine what training system users need, what organizational component will be responsible for providing that training, and ensure that needed resources are available for providing the training. |
The Air Force Systems Command has not provided sufficient manpower to the AMIS program office for effective user training. However, the program office has received some additional personnel, which will in fact be used to ensure that each user activity has instituted an effective on-the-job-training program.
