Recommendations
Recommendations for Executive Action
Agency Affected | Recommendation | Status |
---|---|---|
Department of Commerce | The Secretary of the Army should direct the Chief of Engineers and the Secretary of Commerce should direct the Administrator, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to study the overall feasibility of creating joint Corps/NWS stream forecast centers and establish such centers in those hydrographic regions where the operational requirements of both agencies can be met and duplication eliminated. |
Closed – Not Implemented
This recommendation is no longer applicable because NWS is conducting a major reorganization scheduled to be completed in 1994 which will include the consolidation of its river forecast centers with weather forecast offices, where possible. Whether Corps activities can be included in this consolidation will not be known for some time.
