- Full Report:
Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO reviewed operation and maintenance (O&M) accounts included in the Army's fiscal year 1993 O&M budget request and determined whether the programs should be funded in the amounts requested.
GAO found that: (1) the Army could potentially reduce its budget request by about $523.1 million; (2) the Army had $570 million of unneeded inventory on order at the wholesale level; and (3) the funds made available to procure spare and repair parts is too high.
