GAO published a guide to help evaluators and analysts apply and use the SAS data analysis system to assist with planning, preparing, documenting, and referencing SAS products, focusing on: (1) how GAO system users can develop products which conform to quality control and workpaper documentation standards; (2) the flexibility, suitability, and ease of use of the SAS system; (3) SAS uses in planning support for audit assignments; (4) how to use data checking techniques and program verification procedures; (5) how to implement data entry and transfer requirements; (6) processing, documenting, and referencing SAS work; and (7) the disposition of SAS workpapers.
