[Former Navy Member's Claim for Indebtedness Waiver]

A former Navy member requested a waiver of indebtedness for an overpayment incident to her separation from the Navy, contending that she questioned the excessive amount of her pay and was assured that the amount was proper. GAO held that the claimant should have requested an explanation of her pay to ensure that she was not being overpaid. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
