A firm protested a Defense General Supply Center (DGSC) contract award for incandescent lamps, contending that DGSC improperly rejected its low bid, since its alternate product was equal to the approved-source product the awardee offered. GAO held that DGSC reasonably rejected the protester's bid, since: (1) past procurement history demonstrated problems with alternate products; and (2) the protester failed to provide adequate data to properly evaluate its product. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
