In response to a congressional request concerning clarification of the General Services Administration's (GSA) authority to repair and alter leased premises under the Economy Act, GAO found that GSA: (1) had the authority to alter and repair leased premises without regard to the limitations of the act; and (2) was not required to obtain prospectus approval for appropriations in excess of $500,000 for those repairs.
