In his October 21, 2021 testimony to the U.S. House Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, US Comptroller General Gene Dodaro testified about the wide range of services GAO provides to Congress, how they've evolved and how the agency is positioned for the future. Since GAO began in 1921, we have adapted our work with an eye towards informing congressional decision-making and improving government. GAO's nonpartisan, fact-based work produces hundreds of recommendations that save billions of dollars every year.
