Highlights

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on the distribution of timber sales receipts to Forest Service and other accounts, focusing on: (1) fiscal years 1992 through 1994 timber sales receipts and the amounts of these receipts the Forest Service distributed for specific purposes; and (2) the receipts deposited in the Treasury's General Fund as compared to the Forest Service's outlays for the preparation and administration of timber sales for that period.
