Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on the energy conservation activities at the six largest energy-consuming agencies--the Department of Defense, Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Transportation, Department of Veterans Affairs, General Services Administration, and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS)--focusing on: (1) energy expenditures, energy conservation-related spending, and energy efficiencies achieved; (2) the funding sources available for energy conservation measures; and (3) the procedures used for tracking the conservation measures.
