In response to a congressional request, GAO reviewed the Economic Research Service's (ERS) activities during fiscal years 1985 through 1988, focusing on: (1) how ERS analyzed the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) pesticide regulatory proposals; (2) cost of ERS analyzing the EPA proposals and purposes for which ERS used the funds; (3) the number of proposals ERS analyzed; and (4) the impact on EPA of ERS analysis and comments.
