Highlights

The purpose of two bills presently being considered by Congress is to improve the administration of public printing services and distribution of public documents. The bills would terminate the role of the Joint Committee on Printing, and create the Government Printing Office as an independent establishment of the Government, under which the control of all printing and distribution of Government documents would be consolidated. There are advantages and disadvantages to the bills. Several sections of the bills need to be clarified, and an immunity clause needs to be added in the form of an amendment.
