Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO evaluated the Centers for Disease Control's (CDC) efforts to educate out-of-school youth to prevent the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention In view of the potential duplication in CDC-funded activities, the Director, CDC, should consider merging CCDPHP activities aimed at out-of-school youth education into CPS.
Closed – Implemented
CDC did not concur with the GAO recommendation. CDC wishes to retain activities aimed at out-of-school youth in CCDPHP, with coordination with other CDC groups serving the same youth overseen by the CDC Deputy Director for HIV.
