DOD Health Care: Analysis of Selected Military Medical Facility Construction Projects

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided information on: (1) certain recommendations the Blue Ribbon Panel on Sizing Department of Defense (DOD) Medical Treatment Facilities made; (2) the need for a replacement facility for the Brooke Army Medical Center; (3) staffing at the Wilford Hall Air Force Medical Center; (4) the possibility of closing Brooke and jointly staffing Wilford Hall with Army and Air Force personnel; and (5) the DOD decision not to replace a hospital at Malmstrom Air Force Base.
