A review was conducted at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), Jefferson, Arkansas, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), near Durham, North Carolina, concerning planned changes in research activities and the need for additional facilities during the next 10 years, estimated costs of the planned facilities, and unnecessary overlap of research between the two activities. NCTR is jointly funded by the Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency. NIEHS is one of the research institutes of the National Institutes of Health.
