Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO summarized its written products on the Department of Labor's (DOL) programs and activities from fiscal year (FY) 1990 to February 1995, focusing on key reports on DOL budget categories, including: (1) the Job Training Partnership Act; (2) transition from school to work; (3) consolidation of multiple employment training programs; (4) dislocated worker assistance; (5) the Employment Service; (6) veterans' employment and training; (7) the unemployment insurance system; (8) pension insurance and enforcement programs; (9) the Employment Standards Administration; (10) the Occupational Safety and Health Administration; (11) the Mine Safety and Health Administration; (12) the Bureau of Labor Statistics; and (13) DOL management. GAO noted that DOL has a staff of approximately 17,700 in FY 1995 and an appropriated budget of $33.8 billion.
