GAO reviewed the Federal Regulatory Commission's (FRC) new rule on the Smart Grid Policy. GAO found that (1) the final rule provides guidance regarding the development of a smart grid for the nation's electronic transmission system, focusing on the development of key standards to achieve interoperability and functionality of smart grid systems and devices; and (2) FRC complied with applicable requirements in promulgating the rule.
