GAO presented a detailed discussion of the procedures used in modeling and simulating inventory operations at the Government Printing Office (GPO). The case study is intended to illustrate the advantages that can be gained by using these techniques in conjunction with regular audit procedures. It supplements an earlier study entitled "Case Studies of Auditing in a Computer-based Systems Environment" (B-115369, June 1971).
