Applicability of Foreign Aid Appropriation Act to Materials Purchased with Funds Granted to China Under the China Aid Act

A request was made to the Secretary of State from a letter dated September 23, 1948, for a decision as to the applicability of section 202 of the Foreign Aid Appropriation Act, 1949, to materials purchased with funds granted to China under section 404 of the China Aid Act of 1948. Accordingly, it is advised that purchases be made by the Chinese Government from funds appropriated for the purpose of section 404 of the China Aid Act of 1948 without regard to the provisions of section 202 of the Foreign Aid Appropriation Act, 1949.
