Highlights

A firm protested an Army contract award for fetal monitors, contending that the Army made an improper sole source award, since its product performed the same function as the awardee's product, was widely used, and cost less. GAO held that the Army properly made a sole source award, since the: (1) solicitation called for the standardization of equipment; and (2) protester's product was not compatible with the existing equipment. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed.
