[VA Employees' Claims for Relocation Expenses]

The Department of Veterans Affairs requested a decision on two employees' claims for reimbursement of their additional shipping costs for their household goods pursuant to their transfers to new permanent duty stations. GAO held that the: (1) employees were entitled to reimbursement of their actual expenses, since they moved their household goods themselves; and (2) second employee was entitled to reimbursement of the cost of his packing materials, but not the services of his family members. Accordingly, the claims were denied.
