Highlights

An Air Force officer requested waiver of salary overpayment, contending that he was not aware that he had been receiving a family separation allowance to which he was not enitled. GAO held that: (1) the family separation allowance was reflected in the claimant's leave and earning statement; and (2) as a high ranking Air Force official with 13 years of experience, the claimant should have recognized and questioned the overpayment. Accordingly, waiver was denied.
