[Protest of DLA Contract Award for Grinding Machine]
Highlights
A firm protested a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) contract award for a grinding machine, contending that the awardee: (1) would not provide a domestically manufactured machine; and (2) submitted descriptive literature that did not demonstrate that it met the solicitation specifications. GAO held that DLA: (1) properly accepted the awardee's product, since the list of components showed that domestic components accounted for more than two-thirds of the cost of all components; and (2) reasonably determined that the awardee's bid was technically acceptable, since the awardee supported during discussions areas of technical acceptability not addressed in the descriptive literature. Accordingly, the protest was denied.
