Highlights

The Department of Agriculture requested a decision regarding the use of appropriated funds to purchase business cards. GAO held that the cost of business cards is a personal, rather than an official expense, and may not be paid with government funds without specific statutory authority to do so. Accordingly, federal agencies may not use appropriated funds to purchase business cards.
