Highlights

A Coast Guard Reserve officer claimed entitlement to a variable housing allowance during a period when he was on active duty and occupied bachelor officer quarters, contending that he: (1) was entitled to an allowance because he was making child support payments; and (2) occupied inadequate quarters. GAO held that the claimant: (1) was not entitled to a variable housing allowance by virtue of his child support payments; and (2) voluntarily occupied inadequate quarters. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
