The Commission on Interstate Child Support requested a decision regarding the use of appropriated funds for the payment of conference lodging and meal expenses. GAO held that the Commission could pay the conference expense claims it determined were essential to fulfilling its statutory duties and ensure adequate representation at a congressionally approved national conference on interstate child support. Accordingly, GAO did not object to such use of the Commission's appropriated funds.
