[Decision Concerning SSA Employee's Claim for Reimbursement for Relocation Expenses]

A transferred Social Security Administration (SSA) employee claimed reimbursement for relocation expenses. GAO held that the employee was not entitled to reimbursement for relocation expenses, since: (1) her transfer was primarily for her convenience and benefit and not in the government's interest; (2) she announced her intention to resign her position and relocate regardless of continued employment; and (3) she did not request, nor did SSA offer, reimbursement for relocation expenses at the time of her transfer. Accordingly, the claim was denied.
