[Decision Concerning Appeal of Claims Group's Denial of Request for Waiver of Overpayments]

A Department of the Interior employee appealed the denial of his request for waiver of salary overpayments he received due to an erroneous within-grade step increase. The employee contended that the overpayments were due to administrative errors. GAO held that administrative errors and delays were not grounds for waiving the erroneous payment, since the employee was aware of the error. Accordingly, the denial was affirmed.
