GAO commented on the legality of certain lobbying activities by a defense contractor on behalf of the MX missile. The company asked employees to sign preprinted cards to express support for the missile. GAO stated that the lobbying effort was not improper unless the contractor financed it with contract funds. In addition, GAO asked the Defense Contract Audit Agency to determine the source of the funds used.
