[Protest of GSA Cancellation of Federal Supply Schedule Contract]
Highlights
A firm protested the General Services Adminstration's (GSA) cancellation of that part of a multiple-award contract covering copier equipment. GSA effected the cancellation because it subsequently awarded a contract to another firm for comparable copiers at a lower price. GAO would not consider the protest because it does not review disputes about contract cancellations; such matters must be pursued under contract dispute legislation and require initial filing with the contracting officer. The only exception to this review rule occurs when the cancellation is based on a determination that the contract was improperly awarded. Since the protester did not contend that there was an improper award, the exception did not apply. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed.
