Under the Federal Travel Regulations, an employee of the Customs Service requested reimbursement for dismantling, shipping, and setting up of a swimming pool incident to his permanent change of station. The pool may be included under the definition of "household goods" and the shipping charge may be reimbursed on a commuted-rate basis. Charges for dismantling and installing the pool may be reimbursed under the miscellaneous expenses allowance provided for by the Federal Travel Regulations. Charges for site alterations, which are similar to structural alterations, would not be reimbursable. Sand and blocks are newly acquired items and would not be cost reimbursable.
