Per Diem Rate for House Hunting Trip

An authorized certifying officer for the National Bureau of Standards, requested an advance decision with regard to the rate of per diem which should be paid to an employee incident to a house hunting trip. The employee was entitled to reimbursement at the maximum statutory per diem rate of $35. He was not entitled to the daily rate of $50 designated for temporary duty travel in the high rate geographical area since the high rate was not applicable to travel in connection with house hunting.
