Highlights
An advance decision was requested with regard to the entitlement to reimbursement for real estate expenses of an employee who was transferred to Okinawa and subsequently transferred to a station in the continental United States following Okinawa's reversion to Japan. The applicable statutes and regulations require that both the old and the new duty stations be located in the United States or its territories or possessions in order to receive reimbursement for these expenses, and since Okinawa was not a territory or possession of the United States, there was no entitlement to reimbursement of the claimed relocation expenses.
