Entitlement of Certain Officers to Submarine Duty Pay

A decision was requested with regard to the entitlement of certain officers to submarine duty pay. Naval officers who previously qualified in submarines as enlisted members may receive submarine duty pay if they are being prepared at the Submarine Officers' Basic Course or Indoctrination Course as prospective crewmembers for the Navy's advanced (nuclear powered) submarine fleet. Officers qualified in submarines as enlisted members may also receive submarine duty pay while attending courses of instruction preparing them for positions of increased responsibility in the Navy's advanced submarine fleet.
