TO ADMIRAL EDWIN J. ROLAND, COMMANDANT, UNITED STATES COAST GUARD:

REFERENCE IS MADE TO LETTER DATED AUGUST 1, 1963, FROM THE ACTING COMMANDANT, UNITED STATES COAST GUARD, TRANSMITTING TO THIS OFFICE FOR DIRECT SETTLEMENT TWO CONTRACTS ENTERED INTO BY THE COAST GUARD ACADEMY WITH (1) THE LAPINE SCIENTIFIC COMPANY AND (2) THE EASTERN SCIENTIFIC COMPANY, AND RECOMMENDING THE REMISSION OF THE LIQUIDATED DAMAGES WHICH ACCRUED TO THE GOVERNMENT UNDER THE CONTRACTS.

BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 2312, TITLE 10, UNITED STATES CODE, I HEREBY APPROVE REMISSION OF THE LIQUIDATED DAMAGES ASSESSED UNDER THE ABOVE-MENTIONED CONTRACTS, IN ACCORDANCE WITH YOUR RECOMMENDATION.
