REFERENCE IS MADE TO YOUR LETTER OF APRIL 23, 1957, AND ENCLOSURES, CONCERNING REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES INCURRED INCIDENT TO TRAVEL PERFORMED UNDER EMERGENCY TRAVEL ORDERS DATED OCTOBER 29, 1956, ISSUED TO YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTER, MARGARET A. ASHMAN, AS LEGAL DEPENDENTS OF COLONEL ALFRED ASHMAN.

UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 7, JOINT TRAVEL REGULATIONS, ISSUED PURSUANT TO SECTION 303 (C) OF THE CAREER COMPENSATION ACT OF 1949, 63 STAT. 814, MEMBERS OF THE UNIFORMED SERVICES ARE ENTITLED TO TRANSPORTATION OF DEPENDENTS AT GOVERNMENT EXPENSE IN THE VARIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES SPECIFIED IN THE REGULATIONS. SUCH ENTITLEMENT TO TRANSPORTATION OF DEPENDENTS ACCRUES TO THE MEMBER BUT NOT TO HIS DEPENDENTS. THUS THERE IS NO BASIS IN LAW OR REGULATION FOR THE ALLOWANCE OF YOUR CLAIM AS PRESENTED. CONSIDERATION, HOWEVER, WILL BE GIVEN ANY CLAIM YOUR HUSBAND, COLONEL ASHMAN, MAY PRESENT FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR TRAVEL PERFORMED BY YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTER IN THE CIRCUMSTANCES DESCRIBED IN YOUR LETTER.
