The General Counsel of the Department of the Treasury requested a determination of whether the practice of making available U.S.-owned foreign currency for congressional travel is consistent with the appropriate legislation. Up to $75 per day per person is allowed, exclusive of the cost of transportation available from any other currencies for congressional travel.
