Highlights

Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO provided suggestions for improving the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) reporting requirements. GAO noted that EPA: (1) would be required to provide Congress with an annual account of FIFRA program receipts, appropriations, and expenses; (2) would be required to report its key performance information and progress in the pesticide reregistration process each year; and (3) progress in meeting FIFRA goals would be determined by annual financial statements and performance audits.
