Highlights

A survey-based inventory of Federal drug-abuse programs and related activities was compiled. Some agencies, when first questioned, were not aware of legislative drug mandates affecting them. Once informed, many did supply program data. Some agencies did not provide all of the requested information on all programs benefiting drug abusers or narcotics addicts. Most of these agencies were within the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. Agencies with demand reduction programs were not presenting a budget line time for these programs. Many agency responses had minor technical problems, including incomplete legal citations, program names, or obligation data.
