Information on Persons 60 Years or Older Employed by Area Agencies on Aging
HRD-81-81: Published: Apr 27, 1981. Publicly Released: Apr 27, 1981.
- Full Report:
Pursuant to a congressional request, GAO recently surveyed a sample of 139 area agencies on aging to obtain information on the number of people, by age group, that the area agencies on aging employ. The primary concern was the proportion of people employed by the agencies who are 60 years old or older. The survey excluded volunteers from the statistics and did not include information for nonprofessional staff.
Since the sample was randomly selected, the number of professional staff was projected to the total population of 504 area agencies. There were 379, or 12 percent, professional people 60 years old and older employed by the 133 agencies responding to the survey.
